In the UK, high-quality composite fencing such as ours is engineered to last up to 20 years. Unlike traditional timber, which often succumbs to the UK’s frequent rainfall and harsh winters, composite is manufactured from a blend of recycled wood fibres and high-density polyethylene.
No, composite fencing is coloured and protected by ‘Witch Guard Protect’ technology to provide protection against UV sun damage and inclement UK weather. Often referred to as ‘2nd Gen Capped Composite’, they feature a 360-degree polymer ‘co-extruded’ shell. They are highly UV-stable and typically lose less than 5% of their vibrancy over several decades.
While the initial investment is higher, composite is significantly more cost-effective over its lifespan. Initially, you should expect to pay more for composite than traditional timber fencing. However, standard timber fences require sanding and staining every 24 months. Over a 7-10 year period, the cost of materials, labour and time factors will almost certainly exceed the total cost of composite fencing.
Composite fencing is heavier and dense, making it more robust than standard lap-panel fencing during UK storms. Their ‘tongue & groove’ construction ensures that the panels slot together and stack securely. This ensures that the wind cannot catch individual slats.
